With over 20 years of experience, Edel is an accomplished leader in the social care sector. Serving as Chief Executive Officer of both the Royal Mencap Society and Cornerstone in the UK, Edel has worked towards improving the lives of vulnerable individuals.
Her expertise extends to business strategy and policy development, where she has played a pivotal role in shaping the direction and effectiveness of social care services. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Edel was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2021. This prestigious honor acknowledges her relentless efforts to enhance the lives of people with disabilities, her innovative approach to trialing new models of social care, and her leadership and advocacy during the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic.
Additionally, Edel was appointed by the Scottish Government to chair an independent review into Adult Disability Payment. She also serves as the Chair of the EY Foundation and is a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the National Care Group.
