Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare (JHAH) is a leading provider of integrated healthcare services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In 2022, the organization launched a comprehensive Clinical Transformation Plan designed to modernize key aspects of clinical services delivery and further enhance the quality, access, and sustainability of care.
The transformation program focused on five strategic priorities: delivering service excellence through high-quality care, improving patient access through timely services, strengthening people and leadership capabilities, reinforcing sustainability through value-driven care, and ensuring reliable delivery of services across the organization.
To support the coordination and implementation of this program, Greybeard Healthcare worked alongside JHAH leadership to establish a Program Management Office (PMO) that helped structure project governance, track progress, and support delivery across multiple clinical and operational initiatives.
Following the establishment of the PMO, a range of projects were implemented to enhance both existing services and new models of care.
Several initiatives focused on expanding access and introducing new service models aligned with evolving healthcare needs. These included the introduction of 24/7 teleconsultation services, the development of a Hospital at Home model, and the establishment of an Urgent Care Unit to complement existing emergency services.
Other initiatives focused on modernizing core clinical services through the review of global best practices and clinical evidence. These efforts supported enhancements across several key areas including primary care, operating rooms, interventional cardiology services, endoscopy, and radiology. Improvements were also implemented in triage processes within emergency medical services to support more efficient patient flow.

Additional projects focused on strengthening physician leadership capabilities, optimizing workforce planning, and improving care coordination across different clinical services.
The program also included a review of healthcare demand and service needs in surrounding communities served by JHAH facilities, supporting planning for future service development and expansion.
Recognizing the rapid pace of change in healthcare globally, the program also explored emerging innovations in clinical practice, including the potential application of advanced technologies and digital tools that can enhance diagnosis, treatment, and care delivery in the years ahead.
Across the 2023–2025 period, a total of 21 projects were completed under the Clinical Transformation Plan. Further details on selected initiatives are available through a series of case studies published on the JHAH website:

Reflecting on the three-year experience, several success factors emerged that may be of interest to healthcare organizations undertaking similar transformation efforts.
Data-driven decision making.
Each project began with a structured phase of data gathering and analysis, combining internal operational insights with benchmarking against leading healthcare institutions. This approach ensured that transformation initiatives were grounded in evidence and supported informed decision-making before implementation.
Multidisciplinary collaboration.
Project teams brought together clinicians and professionals from multiple disciplines, including operations, finance, technology, and communications. This cross-functional approach ensured that initiatives were practical, aligned, and supported across the organization.
Capturing organizational learning.
At the conclusion of each project, teams conducted structured reflection sessions to review outcomes, identify lessons learned, and document insights that could support future initiatives. These learnings were shared across the program to strengthen organizational capability and support continuous improvement.
Greybeard Healthcare is proud to have supported JHAH during this period of transformation and wishes the organization continued success as it advances its mission of delivering high-quality healthcare for the communities it serves.
